Our Stakeholders
Our Partnerships

As a distribution business our focus is relationships and people. We are one of the few businesses that reaches every community in the UK.

Our Stakeholders

We recognise the importance of incorporating stakeholder issues into our environmental programme.

Our stakeholders are many and varied. Every individual in the UK represents more than one stakeholder group, they are our customers and they live in the communities in which we operate and our environmental impacts are felt.

We already engage with many of these stakeholders and it is now our policy to include environmental issues within these discussions.

Over the last year, as Stakeholder Dialogue Plan has been prepared, identifying our environmental stakeholders, how we currently engage with them and how we need to develop dialogue to ensure environmental issues are captured. The coming year will see a rollout of this plan and allow us to ensure that our stakeholders' views are heard in our decision making processes.

Our Partnerships

Over the years we have developed strong relationships with a number of external bodies, which are helping us to move towards sustainability.

Forum for the Future
We are a founding corporate partner of Forum for the Future. Forum is a non governmental organisation that offers solutions to corporate sustainable development and has provided input and guidance to many of our environmental initiatives and plans.

The Woodland Trust
We are also corporate members of The Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity. In partnership with The Woodland Trust, we have established ten Royal Mail Millennium Woods to promote biodiversity and provide recreational facilities to local communities.

We are currently supporting the Woodland Trust Phenology project. Across the UK people have been recording changes in nature's calendar, such as the first cuckoo or blackthorn blossom, to help understanding of how global warming is impacting on the natural world. We have been encouraging our staff to become recorders, many of whom are out in the elements throughout the year and have first hand experience of the changes that are happening.
