Managing the environmental impacts of nearly 3000 properties and 40,000 strong vehicle fleet, through the efficient use of resources makes good business sense.

We've introduced a new energy and water management system at our top 400 properties, which account for over 50% of our usage. Over time we will increase the number of sites attached to this system. Through the system we can measure energy and water consumption, identify poorly performing sites and target our activities in these areas. We will be conducting energy surveys at 150 of these sites and based on our findings develop and deploy action plans, including internal awareness raising campaigns.

We're also committed to the use of renewable energy, as demonstrated by our target to obtain 10% of our energy from renewable sources by 2010. We already source 1.5% from certified renewable sources. In addition to this target, we currently operate 31 combined heat and power (CHP) plants at various sites nationally.
